PEACE from TREES

Untitled

The simplest things are the quickest doorways
greeen can be much, much more

sing cedar songs
eat sorrel
move from one tree threshold to the next

The quickest way to being is to not be
The surest path is to be so much
you have no other option than to not be

Asleep on an edge of trail
a camp given by the stars and trees that frame this trail that heads to the spring

Antlers heading to a spring amidst a cloudless moonless night
An Elk walking past just within my reach
I'm brought out of slumber
and look up at our galaxy through a silouettee of a mammalian canpopy.
The body of elk hold up the trunk and branch and trunk and branch
Sillouettes shadows of so many branchings...
so many stars...

Elk and I in the moment before panic
nearly nose to nose our core closeness of scent
about to panic in adrenalin gallops and tumbles and screaming away
Instead Elk and I calmly yearn for no sudden startle only calm, no sudden fight or flight
only calm
We have both grown to love our calm journeys,
we agree at the root our deepest connection

We continue to the spring to get deep clear water of cedar and sorrel
We continue to dream of deep connectedness
dream of being real, being done and undone and done again
A wilderness drinks water that tastes better than ever...
